Also known as: Marble Planet Monstera, Epipremnum Marble Planet, Kartenianum, Monstera Karstenianum sp Peru
Monstera Karstenianum, also known as as Monstera Peru, is a peculiar climbing plant from the Monstera family. You may find very few commonalities between this and the "cheese plant" but she has carved her own path. This Monstera is uniquely ridged and eager to grow massive leathery leaves. Unlike other monstera the leaf pattern with its canyon-like ridges will not revert if you propagate it and it will not fenestrate, or split. Contrary to its name Monstera Peru has been deceiving botanists who initially thought it came from the land of the Andes while they in fact hail from Venezuela's Amazon Basin. This plant is very easy to look after and an incredible statement. Its rarity is disputed however it is rarely seen on the market as they are not the fastest growers. In the right conditions this plant will climb all over your house and have you feeling like she's Rapunzel letting down her hair.
Care: Well draining soil is crucial for this plant. Keep soil on the dryer side but not completely dry. Medium low light is best. No direct light or it can cause scorching. 19c+ temps are ideal. Provide support for bigger leaves.
Note: Plants are living things and variation is to be expected (celebrated even). The plant you receive won't be exactly the same one as pictured, but we do everything possible to make sure it is representative and that you won't be disapointed. Heights are approximate and include the pot. Any pots or hands featured in the pictures aren't included.
